Easy And Delicious Raw Food Snacks For After School

By Allan Hatchell

Every parent wants to give their kids the right nutrition. The best way to accomplish this is by providing them with delicious raw food snacks after school. There are many things to choose from and all of it is packed with plenty of vitamins.

Kids are the pickiest beings on earth. Getting them to eat a healthy vegan snack is sometimes a daunting task. However, there are many simple snacking combinations that most will find quite appealing.

All kids love smoothies. It's a great choice as they are not only tasty, but also nutritious. A fruit shake is easily made by blending a banana, orange and pineapple along with brewer's yeast.

Another great option is vegetarian sushi. Use sheets of seaweed and roll them around thin cut carrots, cucumber and avocado. The small bundles create the perfect finger food for any child. Mix things up by adding other items such as bell peppers or shredded cabbage. For more fun, let the kids help to put them together.

Brownies are a treat that every child enjoys. The raw version is just as good. Mix together almond paste. Carob powder, date paste and honey. Spread the combination into a pan and set it in the refrigerator for a few hours. Kids will never miss the heavily processed version.

Lettuce wraps are a great alternative to sandwiches. Julienne a variety of vegetables such as onions, tomatoes, avocados and cilantro. Squeeze on some lime juice and wrap it all up in some romaine leaves.

When it comes to snacking, chips are a staple. Grind some fresh cut corn into a paste. Frozen corn may also be used. Use cumin, garlic and chili powder to flavor the mixture and then spread it onto a dehydration tray. Score the snacks and dry them for several hours. It's a healthy alternative to those bagged options that are sold in grocery stores.

Make a pudding by blending together some mangoes, lime juice and coconut shreds. Mix until everything is thick and creamy. Top with some chopped pecans for an added treat.

Fries are a favorite for most children. Slice some zucchini strips into thin match stick shapes. Make homemade ketchup by blending tomatoes, lemon juice, dates and some water. Kids will never miss the deep fried version.

Raw food snacks are great for after school or any time of the day. Choosing a healthy vegan snack for kids is a step in the right direction. The whole family will feel better and have much more energy.
