Nearly every culture has been using running for exercise for centuries, way before there were ever health gyms or elliptical machines. Now, when many people are leading sedentary lives and having problems with their health and weight, running can be a great way to return to a healthy state. You can prevent many different kinds of injuries by stretching. There is an obvious impact when you run, or jog, and the stretching warms up your muscles, makes them more flexible and able to absorb the impact. When you stretch, you should stay relaxed and not strain yourself. Never rush or be in a hurry to stretch, and never go too far when you do it. Never push to the point of pain when you stretch, and if you do feel pain immediately and slowly back off. It is most important to do light stretches that work the leg muscles before and after jogging.

Power walking is highly suggested if you're not yet a jogger and want to start doing it. If you are not used to do workouts with the best exercise bike, or haven't done it for a long time, walking can be a great way to gradually get your body accustomed to moving around. You can begin with the smallest steps you want, and then just proceed at your own comfortable pace.

Once you're comfortable and ready for further, then do more such as a slow and steady run, or jog, but be sure to listen to your body. When you proceed slowly and with caution, then you're reducing the chances of possible injury. There are a lot of ex-runners that are unable to run because of old injuries, and power walking is an excellent alternative for them. Even those who are able to run might want to work their way up to a faster pace by walking first. You need to stay healthy and avoid injuries to get the most out of jogging. While jogging is great for your health and fitness, it can also cause certain injuries.

To reduce the chances of this, you should always listen to your body and watch for warning signs. While you want to push yourself, you don't want to overdo it. If you are just starting out with jogging, start off slowly and gradually increase your speed and distance. If you experience sharp pain while running, stop and go see your doctor if it doesn't get better. You will end up doing more harm than good if you push too hard, so pay attention to how you feel when you run. No doubt, jogging can make you healthy, happier, and people really do have fun doing it. It's one of the best exercises you can do to lose weight, and you may find that you still want to jog even when you've reached your ideal weight.
